VYPE: What are your personal goals this year?
Grace: My personal goal for the season is to be a dedicated senior leader for the younger girls on my team. I will do this by being a role model student, a good runner, and continue volunteering in my community.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Grace: The most fun I have had in the last year was being selected to the homecoming court to represent my cross country team.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Grace: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Williams. She embodies every trait I aspire to have; kindness, compassion, a genuine heart, and most of all a supportive spirit. She has taught me lessons in the classroom, as well as many important life lessons. Being around her has truly made me a better person all around, and I am a better person thanks to her.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Grace: My favorite athletic memory was when my junior high cross country team won the junior high state championship for three years- back to back to back!! After we won each championship, we all jumped in the creek by the finish line together to celebrate! I will never forget those special moments with my team.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Grace: The teammate that has left the biggest impact on me was Jerika Coon. Jerika was a junior in high school when I was a sixth grader that had just started cross country. She welcomed me into the program and taught me how to run, but also how to be a team player and to show kindness to everyone around me.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Grace: The person with the best impression of my coach is Katie Stoneking. She always impersonates my coach by saying “ladies!” in coach Williams EXACT voice. Katie is definitely the jokester of our team!
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Grace: I would like to go on a summer vacation to Cozumel with my parents and my sister!
VYPE: If you had $500 and had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Grace: If I had to spend $500 in the next 24 hours I would give it to Caring Community Friends. It is our community food/clothing/needs bank right here in Sapulpa. I volunteer there and I love seeing all the people it helps!
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Grace: I would like to thank my parents and my sister for coming to every single cross country event no matter how early they started or how late they ended. They push me to be my best day in and day out in everything I wish to accomplish, you guys are the best. I would also like to say a huge thank you to Coach Williams, she truly is outstanding at everything she does.Thank you Coach Lusk for making workouts fun and pushing me to succeed since you were my coach in junior high. Thank you to Coach Tuttle for always saying what’s on your mind and being a light when I walk into practice everyday. Lastly, thank you to my amazing teammates for being a shoulder to lean on and always being there for me no matter what, I couldn’t do it without them.
