Union’s Jenna Mitsdarfer – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Tulsa Tech

By Derrick Smith

For many students, Tulsa Tech is a place that gives them a head start on their future career while they are still in high school.

Jenna Mitsdarfer attends Tulsa Tech where she is taking the Photography One program. She says she chose it because it is something she loves and hopes to be her future career.

“I chose the photography program because I love art and creating things, and have had a passion for photography for quite a few years now,” Jenna said. “I’m learning skills from my trade that aren’t accessible through resources like YouTube, such as the business side of photography. Once I graduate from high school, I plan to attend art school and major in either photography or illustration and see where that takes me.”

Mitsdarfer first heard about Tulsa Tech a few years ago and now that she attends it is something she would suggest to anyone considering it.

“When I was in the eighth grade, I first heard about Tech,” he said. “At that point, I was starting to get into photography and the idea of a three-hour art class was very appealing. When I am there, it is the best part of my day, so I would definitely recommend it to everyone.”

While attending Tulsa Tech, Jenna is a junior at Union High School, where she is a member of the tennis team. She says that she loves the game of tennis.

“I enjoy the competitive atmosphere and winning,” she said. “My favorite memory from playing tennis so far would have to be when my doubles partner and I were runners-up at the state tournament when we were in junior high. It was a great experience and one I will never forget.”

Throughout her athletic career, Jenna has had multiple people that have played a role in her development, but she says that there is one group of people that have had the biggest impact.

“My biggest role models have been my coaches,” she said. “They push me to be better and they truly care about me on and off the court.”
