Bishop Kelley High School running back Austin Munson has been the “talk of the tailgate” many times during his high school career. Now a senior, the powerful runner recently had a big game against rival Edison High School. Munson said it was the highlight of the early season.
“I ran the ball 16 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns against Edison. I also made five tackles in that game on defense,” Munson said.
As a teammate, Munson is a great leader and someone his teammates can count on.
“I love the bond that this team has together, we really feel like a family,” Munson said. “The most effective way to lead is a balance between using your voice and actions.”
As a student-athlete, Munson said Kelley prepares you for the future and they know when to have fun on the football team.
“Bishop Kelley prepares you not only for college but for life. It is a faith filled, and friendly atmosphere. We are one big family,” Munson said. “My favorite moment this season was getting to put on the coaches headsets with my teammates and pretend to coach the end of the game.”
Looking ahead, Munson would like the opportunity to play football at the next level.
“If I am given the opportunity, I would love to play football in college, and study to be in the medical field,” said Munson.
