Holland Hall Dutch Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Arnold’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers

Coach: Teddy Owens

21-22 Record: 17-8

The Holland Hall Dutch have made a habit of making trips to the state tournament lately and they enter this new season looking to do it again. Teddy Owens is in his fifth season at the helm of the Holland Hall basketball program, and he says that with the experience and depth of his team, the sky is the limit. “We return 80 percent of our scoring from last year including our top three scorers,” Owens said. Jadon Cool averaged 16.4 points per game, Carter Benton has 14.7, and Nate Mullendore added 9.7. We look to go back to the state tournament for the fifth straight year in Class 4A. We have more depth than we’ve ever had.”

The team’s leading scorer the past two seasons and the guy that looks to do it for a third season is Jadon Cool (6-4, Sr.). He is already getting looks from the next level with two DI offers. While he played a big role last year, Carter Benton (6-3, Jr.) is poised to have an even bigger impact this year. He also has the potential to be a college basketball player while still having two years left in his high school career. Benton is not afraid of hard work.

He is the last person in the gym every day and works on his game relentlessly. Nate Mullendore (6-1, Sr.) is an all-around player for the team. Along with averaging 9.7 points and 7.5 rebounds, he also averages over two charges per game. He also works hard after every loose ball.

Freshmen Julius Wilson (6-1, Fr.) and Kainon Gibson (5-10, Fr.) both play for Team Griffin during the summer and will look to make huge impacts for the team as ninth graders. They led the seventh and eighth grade teams to Pinnacle Conference Championships the last two years.

There are other members of the Dutch that are looking for their opportunity to contribute and make an impact on the floor. They are Jalen Thompson (6-2, Sr.), Ethan Taber (6-4, So.), Keaton Sterling (5-10, Sr.), Matthew Underwood (6-4, So.), Ryan Levine (5-10, So.), Xander Loosvelt (6-0, So.), Kaleb Young (5-11, Sr.), and Beau Barnes (5-9, Fr.).
