Blythe Confer is a standout volleyball player from Holland Hall High School, whose journey in the sport is marked by unwavering dedication, invaluable mentorship, and a passion for success both on and off the court.
Throughout her volleyball career, Confer’s favorite coach has been Coach Taylan Nero, who served as her club volleyball coach. “She pushed me harder than anyone has,” Confer said. “She taught me almost everything I know about volleyball now.” Coach Taylan’s mentorship not only elevated Confer’s skills but also instilled in her a relentless work ethic and a deep understanding of the game.
Teammates often become pillars of support and inspiration. For Confer, Hadlee and Reese Reynolds have been such teammates. “During club games, Hadlee was always there for me and supported me all season,” Confer said. “Reese always knows how to cheer me up when I am down.”
Among the educators who have left a lasting impact, Mrs. Cox, Confer’s 2nd-grade teacher, holds a special place. “She has always been here for me, and I am so happy to have her in my life,” Confer said.
Preparation is key to success, and Confer’s off-season was marked by rigorous training and participation in various volleyball clinics. She ensured she was fully equipped for the upcoming season, leaving no stone unturned in her quest for excellence.
The lessons learned on the volleyball court have transcended the game itself. “My sport has taught me how to talk to new people and always keep a good attitude,” Confer said.
Looking ahead to this season, Confer has her sights set on a significant goal. “This season I hope to accomplish going to state,” she stated. Confer believes in her team’s potential and collective effort to reach new heights.
Among the upcoming matchups, one stands out for Confer: “I am looking most forward to playing Cascia Hall again.”
As for life after high school, Confer aspires to attend a reputable college, although her major remains undecided. Her commitment to continued growth and pursuit of success is certain, promising a bright future both in and beyond the world of volleyball.
