Rohan Shrestha and his family moved to Tulsa from New York about seventeen years ago. His brother had just begun playing tennis, so his mom was looking for a tennis academy for him to join. They heard about Tucker Tennis Academy and everything else just fell into place.
“After we moved to Tulsa, we ended up discovering TTA through word of mouth and it has been history ever since,” Rohan stated. “I credit my entire game to TTA. It is the only academy I have attended. I have had many great mentors and I have developed many long-life friendships throughout my years at TTA. The amazing coaches there have taught me from the very fundamentals of tennis, and I continue to learn new information from them to this day.”
Shrestha began playing tennis at the age of thirteen and he currently plays for Holland Hall as a senior. He serves as captain of the Dutch boys’ varsity tennis team.
Over the span of his career, Rohan says that there have been numerous people that have had an influence on him as a person and as an athlete. But he says that there are a couple of people that have had the greatest impact.
“Without a doubt, my biggest influences are my parents,” he stated. “Ever since I was a little kid I always looked up to my parents. My parents are the most resilient and hardworking people I know. They have provided me with all of the resources I need to make my dreams a reality for which I am immensely grateful.”
Shrestha has made many memories as a member of TTA. He says that there have been so many that it is really hard to narrow it down to just one or two.
“Some of my favorite moments as a member of TTA are just being in a place with like-minded people,” he said. “Every day everyone shows up with one goal in mind, and that is to get better. This environment translates to intense practices and workouts. Nothing feels better than stepping off the court knowing that you did everything you could in hopes of just getting one percent better.”
After he graduates, Rohan will continue his education and tennis career at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
