Coach: Teddy Owens
20-21 Record: 15-6
Last year the Dutch enjoyed another trip to the state tournament after a 15-game winning season. Head coach Teddy Owens looks to continue building on that state tournament success with three returning starters back to the lineup. “This year’s team will be deeper that in year’s past,” said coach Owens. “The Dutch have gone to three straight state tournaments and look to return again as nearly 40-points a game return from last year’s team.” Jadon Cool (6-4, Jr.) averaged 14 points and 5.0 rebounds a game last year and returns as the team’s leading scorer.
Coach Owens believes he is primed for a big year. Carter Benton (6-3, So.) averaged 9.0 points and 2.0 rebounds as a freshman and should see an increase in his totals this season. Ethan Roush (6-4, Sr.) is a workhorse averaging 5.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals. Nate Mullendore (6-1, Jr.) will play one of the forward spots where is 7.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists are huge for the Dutch. Jayden Tarver (6-2, Sr.) and Hunt Heldebrand (6-0, Sr.) were both out last season. Tarver sat out while Heldebrand fought through an injury. Jalen Thompson (6-1, Jr.) could see some significant minutes at point guard while Keaton Sterling (5-9, Jr.) is a shut-down defender. With KK Gilbert managing the team and with coach Owens leadership, this could be the year the Dutch put it all together.
