REGENT PREP RAMS
Coach: ADAM BISHOP
11-1
OFFENSE
In 2022 the Regent Prep Rams were one of the more exciting teams to watch. Head coach Adam Bishop has 12 seasons at the helm of the Rams football program and his efforts, along with the coaching staff, are paying off. “Regent returns seven starters on each side of the ball. The Rams averaged over 50 points per game last season while giving up only 12.
This season’s squad will be fast, physical, and deep with more than 30 players expected in the Fall,” said coach Bishop. Quarterback John Mark Roller (6-2, 170, Jr.) is back after a memorable sophomore effort. Next level interest in Roller is heating up, but before he decides if he will play on Saturday, Roller wants to rewrite the record books at Regent. Shae Smallwood (Jr.) is another playmaker the Rams will lean on this season. Smallwood can play multiple positions. Tres Borden (Sr.) will handle the rock in the run game while Caedmon Fletcher (Sr.) and Tyler Helton (Sr.) are the main targets in the passing game. Anchoring the line is senior Camden Brookover at center. “We are an extreme tempo offense that aims to wear our opponents down. We run as many plays as possible each game. We play as many 10 different skill position players each week,” said coach Bishop.
DEFENSE
Seven starters are back for the Rams defense including Avin McGuire (Sr.) in the secondary. Younger players will need to step up and fill in some gaps on defense, but McGuire is solid and will help shore up the secondary. Tucker Phillips (Sr.) and Abram Farrington (Sr.) are two quick, hard-hitting linebackers the Rams will need to help stop the run and defend against the short passing game. Zeke Camp (Sr.) is the key up front for the defense. His ability to cause problems in the opponents’ backfield is crucial. Also look for Caleb McNeill (Jr.) to fly around and make plays from multiple positions. “Regent is an attacking defense that looks to force the offense into quick decision making each play,” said coach Bishop. Assistant coaches include Bob Mareburger, Bob DeCelle, Heath Casey, Sean Ramsey, and Glen Haueter.
