VICTORY CHRISTIAN CONQUERORS
Coach: BRETT SMITH
10-4
OFFENSE
Head coach Brett Smith is excited to see his team take the field this season as he returns six starters on the offensive side of the ball. “Victory is returning its core skill players but replacing four across the offensive line,” said coach Smith. Offensive coordinator Dustin Cherry will look to quarterback Ayden Hamilton (6-1, 185, Sr.) for leadership and consistent play. Last season Hamilton accounted for 1,068 yards passing and 884 yards rushing with 24 TDs. He completed 70 percent of his passes and went 6-1 as a starter. Michael Doctor (6-1, 190, Sr.) is a four-year starter and will be counted on at the wide receiver and running back positions. Last season Doctor accounted for 903 yards and seven scores. This will be a high-powered offense utilizing multiple sets and attack from the air and the ground. Broken Arrow transfer Dallas Dyer expects to play heavily in the run game for the Conquerors this season after the team graduated 2A offensive district MVP Judah Byrams. Another player to watch is Jonas Stafford who is a team captain and team chaplain. “Jonas is one of the hardest workers in the weight room. He will play inside linebacker as well as on the offensive line. Do it all without complaining type of ‘glue player’ every team needs,” said coach Smith.
DEFENSE
Along with Stafford player linebacker, look for Teyton “Tot” Chandler (6-1, 195, Sr.) at linebacker. Chandler is a four-year starter and has over 500 career tackles and is expected to break the school record in the first game of the season. Chris Moore (5-10, 175, Sr.) had three interceptions including a pick-six versus Shiloh Christian last season. Moore added 37 tackles and will start at corner again this year. “We will run a 4-2-5 attacking defense that uses multiple fronts and stunts alongside blitzes to be aggressive on all four downs,” said coach Smith. Defensive coordinator Ramon Bonner has seven starters returning to the lineup this season, but will look to get younger players playing time to prepare them for a run in the playoffs. Victory made it to the state semifinals for only the third time in school history (other two were 2004 & 2016) and has won back-to-back district titles in a tough 2A-7 district, a third district title would be the first time in school history going back-to-back-to-back according to coach Smith.
