Webster’s Keondrah Ferrying – Webster Warriors – Presented by Arnold’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers

By Ember McElrath

Webster High School senior Keondrah Ferrying loves being a leader to her cheer team and someone for younger students to look up to.

“It helps me to know that people look up to me because it makes me feel like I am doing something right,” said Keondrah.

Cheerleading is not just a sport to Keondrah it is where she gained her second family.

On the cheer team Keondrah is one of the captains and holds one of the base positions for her squad.

“I am kind of part of everything as one of the captains,” said Keondrah. “I help coach Wixon with lineups and a lot of the behind the scenes stuff.”

Cheer is not her only tallent, she played the clarinet in band and also participated in student council.

One of the best memories she has from cheer is from last year’s season.

“We got to cheer at the BOK and then go backstage where all the famous people stay and it was just a really cool experience all together,” said Keondrah.

The person who taught her all about great character and the person she looks up to the most is her mother.

“She continues to make me push myself to be a better person and even when I am feeling my worst she is able to pull me out and prove that it is just a rough patch and it is going to get better if I just keep going,” Keondrah said.

Some seniors coast by their last year, but Keondrah keeps her drive and motivation by looking at the bigger picture.

“Instead of thinking of how hard something is at that moment I try to just think about what it will be like in the end,” Keondrah said.

Once she graduates Keondrah plans to attend ORU and pursue a degree in sports medicine.
