Metro Christian’s Ivy Wilson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By RH91 Tucker Tennis Academy

Playing a sport requires a lot of hard work and time spent practicing and working on your game. While practice is important, some athletes seek out extra help them advance even further. Ivy Wilson is a member of the Metro Christian Academy tennis team and she sought out assistance for her game at RH91 Tennis Center.

“Training at RH91 has helped me by developing my skills technically and physically and has pushed me to be a better player on and off the court,” she said. “Having been training there for so many years and seeing so many stages of the program and getting to be part of the community there is truly a blessing and has shaped me into the person I am today.”

Though she has put in a lot of work during her career, Ivy has other things that she has had to work on to become the player that she is today.

“It’s taken a lot for me to be successful in tennis,” she stated. “It takes consistent regulation of my blood sugar and heart rate, as I have Type 1 Diabetes and thyroid issues, and discipline in my workouts and habits. Tennis has required me to become better at time management and make me more responsible in all areas of my life.”

Wilson, who is in her senior year, gives a lot of credit to her coaches for her success on the court.

“My coaches are my biggest influences and role models,” she said. “Georgi Cravero and Matias Marin are more than my coaches, they are my family. They have walked through life with me, through good and bad, and encouraged me while also telling me what I needed to hear whether I wanted to or not, which made me stronger. They have not just made me a better player but a better person.”

Along with playing tennis, Wilson also serves as the secretary of the Environmental Club, is also a member of the Women’s Health and Wellness Club, and National Honor Society, and is the Head Service Committee Chair of the Student Council.
