Daniel Webster High School’s Jordyn Payne – Athlete Spotlight Presented by Arnolds Hamburgers

Daniel Webster High School’s Jordyn Payne has a high level of determination as a multisport athlete. She runs track, participates in cross country, and is a cheerleader. For track, Jordyn runs the 100m Hurdles and does the also long jump. Additionally, Jordyn is the captains of both the cheer and track teams at Daniel Webster High School. Jordyn will be entering her senior year of high school this fall.

When asked what motivates her, Jordyn looks towards her faith. Jordyn stated, “What motivates me in my sports and also in life is God; without him I would not be where I am today in my track career, and in life.”

In terms of who she looks towards as a role model, Jordyn did not hesitate.  Jordyn stated, “One of the biggest role models in my life is my guardian angel, my Poppy. He was the strongest man I ever knew, and his memory pushes me to keep going, and be successful in life.”

Jordyn is proud to represent Daniel Webster High School. Jordyn stated, “What it means to represent my school is to show love and respect everywhere I go. I think it’s important to represent my school and community when I play because I want to make them proud and be a reflection of our school.”

Asked, what the highlight moment in sports was for Jordyn thus far, she stated, “The highlight moment in my sports career was without question, making state this year. It was an unreal feeling and an amazing experience to get to run with some of the best girls on the state.

Besides athletics, Jordyn is involved with her school in leadership roles. Jordyn stated, “In school, I am class president. For the 2022-2023 school year I was the student council president. I am also a part of the Oklahoma Association of Student Council. In cheer, we often stay involved with community service, to serve our west side community.”

After high school, Jordyn plans on continuing her education. Jordyn stated, “After high school, I want to attend college, with the possibility of running track or cheering while attending college.”
