Edison Prep’s Naturah White – Raising Cane’s Superfan

By Derrick Smith

The high school years of a student’s life can be the toughest in their academic career. Not only do you have to work to pass your classes, but you also have to decide what you are going to do after you graduate and what activities and clubs are you going to be involved in. While all these are choices that Naturah White has had to face during her high school career, she says that there is one thing that made high school more enjoyable.

“I think having great school spirit makes high school better and a lot more fun,” she said. “Having school spirit brings people together and helps you build friendships.”

Naturah is a senior at Edison Preparatory School. She is a cheerleader for the Eagles cheer squad, which naturally allows her to share her school spirit with fans at various sporting events.

One thing that she enjoys most about being a cheerleader is game day.

“Gameday is really awesome,” she said. “Everyone is so excited and pumped for the game. We are all ready to get out there and show our support for our team.”

Edison cheer coach, Alex Clemons, says that White is an asset to the team and a great representative for the school.

“Naturah is the best captain a team could ask for,” the coach said. “She is an old soul with a lot of compassion and care for her teammates. All of the cheerleaders have a special and distinct relationship with her. Naturah is always smiling and works extremely hard for the team. She always participates in the events and shows love and support to the band.”

White says that there is one week when she gets to put her school spirit on full display is Edison Week.

“I love Edison Week,” she stated. “Everyone dresses up and we have our pep rally. It is a great time that we all get to do different things to show the pride we have in our school.”
