Memorial’s Mataya Hall – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by: Midwest Sporting Goods

Mataya Hall is a junior at Memorial High School and a combo guard on the varsity basketball team. Hall said being a student-athlete at Memorial is special due to the bonds she has made through sports and other clubs.

“The thing I love most about being a student-athlete at Memorial is the bonds I have made with people from different sports and social groups,” said Hall. “I love my teammates energy and vibes; we always have a good time together.”

Hall is a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FCCLA, NAACP, Leadership and she serves as junior class secretary and treasurer. Hall said her favorite subject in school is math and her favorite teacher is coach Limes. While Hall is focused in the classroom, she’s also focused on making this a season to remember on the court.

“The goal for this season is to win our district and then make it to state for a chance at a state title. The team is coming together very well, we are working hard to get better and reach our goals,” said Hall.

Once her playing time at Memorial comes to an end, Hall said she would like to attend college.

“I would like to attend college on a basketball scholarship and major in Psychology.”

In her free time, Hall enjoys doing art and crafts, reading and playing volleyball.
