SNU Exercise Science Spotlight – Arin Taylor

The path to higher education isn’t what it used to be. Today there are many options for people with busy schedules like Arin Taylor. Southern Nazarene University offers such a schedule that allows individuals like Taylor to pursue a Master of Science in Exercise Science Program.

“I am currently employed at College H.U.N.K.S Hauling Junk and Moving,” said Taylor. “SNU offered the most flexible and affordable program that suits my chosen career field, and I appreciated the fact that it is a Christian school with proven principles that have worked for its alumni. I felt like the program would challenge me to explore future employment in a professional field.”

For Taylor, the spiritual aspect of his education was just as important as the curriculum.

“Being able to go to class knowing that I have the opportunity to grow spiritually, as well as knowing that I am blessed with tremendous professors who are there with the sole purpose to provide me with life skills and the knowledge necessary for me to dwell in my selected career path is important,” said Taylor.

The Master of Science in Exercise Science Program will help Taylor improve his position professionally in the health field.

“Considering the fact that I see myself pursuing a career in the health field, I appreciate the fact that this degree program offers a range of different career field perspectives, opportunities, and experiences that will help me be successful in whatever career path I choose,” said Taylor.

There were a few pleasant surprises in the program as well.

“What surprises me about the program has to be the fluidity and the atmosphere the students and staff look to promote. There is great verbal and non-verbal communication, if you’re not being spoken to with an encouraging and uplifting spirit, you’re receiving a smile that can change the outcome of your whole day. The way the program is set up really makes it easy for me to learn, knowing I have the necessary resources and help if needed from a professor,” said Taylor. “I’m not one to say it is easy, or that you may not face difficult times, but with a good work ethic, both internal and external motivation, your desired career, your dreams, and the success story that is keeping you up at night, are most definitely worth giving it a shot. You never lose in life- you win and you learn. I consider an education at SNU as one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s a great environment to learn, surrounded by people with good intentions, who walk with you every step of the way until they see you succeed. Great choice for those looking to continue their education. “
