Will Rogers Lady Ropers Basketball – Team Preview – Presented by: Excel Therapy

Nellie Simmons

Last season, the Lady Ropers advanced to the Class 5A state basketball tournament for the fourth time in five seasons. As they begin play this season, they look to continue their trend of deep playoff runs.

Head coach Carlin Adkism says that he is looking forward to seeing what his squad will be able to do this season.
“We are excited about our young team,” he said. “Leadership is starting to grow from our veteran players.”

On the schedule this season are a few teams that gained playoff experience last season, including state champion Sapulpa, and runner up Holland Hall.

Leading the team this season will be standout player and athlete Sanaiyah Morrison (5-5, Jr.). She has been a key component in the team’s last two trips to the state tournament. Last season, she averaged fifteen points per game and was named All-Conference Most Valuable Player. She will look to continue to be a force on the court for the Lady Ropers.

Another player that should have an impact on the season is Nellie Simmons (6-0, Sr.). She is a solid basketball player and knows what needs to be done to make the team successful. She has worked hard to get where she is and she will be a name to keep an eye on.

Adkism’s team has a strong group of juniors that are going to be contributors to the team’s success this year. Lynzie Overstreet (5-6, Jr.), Aubreanna Hammon (5-2, Jr.), Sydney Hudson (5-9, Jr.), and Ahnya Olive (5-3, Jr.) should see time on the court and make an impact on the season. E’niyah Justice (5-5, Fr.), Camari Lowmack (5-5, Fr.), and Elizabeth Clark (5-8, Fr.) are underclassmen on this year’s team but do not expect that to slow them down.

Assistant coaches with Adkism this season are Marcus Morrow, Kristin Clark, and Gui Lowmack.
