Owasso High School’s- Student Athlete Ryland Nuckles Presented by J-P Hogan Insurance

With swim season wrapped up, student-athletes like Ryland Nuckles have turned some of their focus to other activities and finishing the school year on a high note.

This season Nuckles swam several events for the Rams including the 50 free, 100 breast, and he was on two relay teams, the 400 free relay and the 200 medley relay where he swam the breaststroke. Being part of the team has been a great experience for Nuckles. “I love the team and the community. Almost everyone is so friendly and supportive. Sam Suppes is a senior swimmer. He is a very fast freestyler and has been a great role model for me this season,” said Nuckles.

In his first season as a varsity swimmer, Nuckles said his first season was a memorable one.

“I’ve been swimming since I was little, but this is my first year on the Owasso Swim team. I love the community and environment that is created when we are together. We have a lot of fun. My favorite memory from this season has been after state when the guy’s team went to Ichiban together and had a feast. It was really fun,” said Nuckles.

Also a member of the Owasso choir, National Junior Honor Society, and the Owasso Film Club, Nuckles said he enjoys all of his classes and what it means to be an Owasso Ram.

“My favorite subject is ELA. My ELA class is hard but fun. My favorite teacher this school year has been Mrs. Fitzgerald in U.S. Government,” said Nuckles.

In his free time, Nuckles said he enjoys hanging out with his friends and creating new builds with his LEGOs. The freshman is unsure as to what life will look like after he graduates, but he has plenty of time to figure it out.
