Philosophy Academy’s Ian Bracks Athlete Spotlight Presented by Genesis Health Clubs

Ian Bracks

Philosophy Academy

Ian Bracks is in his final year of prep competition this season. The senior at Philosophy Academy said he started playing tennis at a very young age.

“I am a senior in high school through Philosophy Academy, and I have been playing tennis for twelve years, since I was five years old,” said Bracks.

His experience on the court has made him one of the top tennis players in Oklahoma. The countless hours in practice are paying off for the senior.

“My favorite part about Genesis and Tucker Tennis Academy is the coaching staff they have as well as the incredible facility for us to train. There is a variety of coaches that all have different specialties and are always willing to help you. They also care a lot about the players which means a lot. They have an incredible facility with good people that make you feel like I’m at tennis home,” said Bracks. “I am a stringer for Genesis Riverside and in the past, I have volunteered as a coach for the developmental class for the younger kids at the club.”

This season Bracks has continued to work on his game and is ready to see that hard work pay off this season.

“I’ve worked on increasing power on my serve to get a few more free points. Also staying balanced while on the run, this helps make me more stable on defense meaning I can keep the ball deeper and stop their offense,” said Bracks. “My teammates and I at Tucker Tennis are going to play the Spring National Championships at the end of March. I think we are going to have a good year.”

One reason this team excels on the court is their ability to push each other while being supportive.

“My favorite parts about my teammates at the Tucker Tennis Academy are how we can work hard together and push each other to improve. While also being friends that support each other and have a good time,” said Bracks.

Looking ahead, Bracks is excited for his future at the next level.

“I am going to play college tennis at Oklahoma State. Then planning on playing professional tennis after that. Go Cowboys,” said Bracks. In his free time Bracks said he likes spending time with his family over the weekends. He’s also a big Formula 1 fan.
