SNU’s Masters of Arts in Education and Leadership Spotlight: Spiro’s Marhya Price

Current Spiro Public Schools teacher Marhya Price also coaches softball and teaches keyboarding and computer classes, all while staying close to home to attend classes with Southern Nazarene University.

“SNU was the right choice for many reasons. First, the classes are given at my campus. I don’t have to travel. The teachers come to our campus. The course is once a week and falls on Wednesdays. The program that I am enrolled in is the Masters of Arts in Education and Leadership. This is perfect for me. If it was on any other day, or if I had to travel, I wouldn’t have time,” said Price.

As a student pursuing her master’s degree, Price said the program is teaching her a lot and will help her advance professionally.

“I am learning a lot. This is just my third year of teaching, so lots of information has been very beneficial. Other than a little extra money, it will give me more opportunities in the future,” said Price.

For Price, the program is straightforward with no curve balls to deal with. Price said not knowing what to expect made getting started easier thanks to the faculty and staff at SNU.

“I don’t guess anything has surprised me much, mostly because I didn’t know what to expect,” said Price.

Knowing where to turn for a master’s degree can be a daunting task. Price said anyone looking to continue their education or pursue their master’s degree should consider SNU for several reasons. Ease of schedule, flexibility, the professors, classmates, and the time commitment are just a few reasons SNU is the right choice for Price and others in the course.

“My advice is do it! Jump in and go for it. It is stressful sometimes, but hopefully, you get good classmates that help,”
