Kira Shipley

Charles Page High School

VYPE: Kira, what grade are you in this year and how long have you competed in tennis?

Shipley: I’m currently a senior, and this is my third year playing tennis. I have been playing singles for my whole tennis career, often competing in the first rank category.

VYPE: What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at Charles Page HS?

Shipley: I love the opportunity to advance in my own athletic ability while helping CPHS look better.

VYPE: Tell us about your teammates. What do you love about this group?
Shipley: I love how incredibly supportive my teammates are to one another, and we get several opportunities to bond through playing together every day.

VYPE: How is the team looking entering the season?

Shipley: Our tennis team at CPHS is looking solid to improve each of our records by far this season. We’re all achieving goals match by match.

VYPE: I know the name Shipley. Shipley Donuts in Sand Springs is famous.
Shipley: I am in fact related to the famous Shipley donuts! My papa owned the one in Sand Springs and made donuts there before he retired, and it became Livi Lee’s.

VYPE: Are you involved in any other groups at school?

Shipley: I have been a member of the National Honor Society at CPHS throughout my high school career.

VYPE: Is there an area of your game you have worked to improve for this season?
Shipley: One of the most challenging parts of tennis is mentality. Each season I’m able to improve in that area more and more.

VYPE: What are you plans after you graduate?
Shipley: After I graduate, I plan to attend TCC to gain my associates, and transfer after. I hope to major in criminal justice, and I’m working on possible tennis scholarship opportunities!

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Shipley: In my free time, I like to spend it with important people in my life, as well as taking more time studying the Bible.
