Ava Casper

Holland Hall

As the gyms heat up and basketball season gets into full swing, we caught up with Ava Casper of Holland Hall for this edition of 9 Questions.

VYPE: Now that we are a few games in, how is the team coming together?

Casper: We are developing a relationship with one another and learning how to play together. Our upperclassmen are learning how to be leaders, we have a small team of only seven girls with no seniors. I think we are looking pretty good, though there are always things to improve on!

VYPE: What grade are you in this year and what position are you playing?

Casper: I’m a junior and play point guard/ shooting guard.

VYPE: Has the team set a goal for this season?

Casper: My goal this season is to have a winning record and make it to the state tournament and win, of course!

VYPE: Tell me about your teammates. What do you love about this group?

Casper: I love the friendships I have with my teammates. We do things together outside of practice and games, and I feel like I can trust them with anything.

VYPE: Holland Hall seems like a little town all to itself. What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete for the Dutch?

Casper: I love being a student-athlete at Holland Hall because we are so supported by our teachers and classmates, they show up to games and cheer us on. It’s so nice having a supportive community surrounding the sport I love.

VYPE: Are you involved in other activities at school?

Casper: I’m in a club called Treads, a nonprofit that provides shoes and socks to the less fortunate. I also am a part of Holland Hall Ambassadors, a student-led group that represents our school and community.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?

Casper: My favorite subject is math. My favorite teacher is my math teacher, Mrs. Moore. We have a great relationship, and I feel that she helps me understand a topic I may not understand right away.

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?

Casper: I would like to play college basketball at a school where I can pursue a business degree.

VYPE: Away from school, what do you enjoy doing with your free time?
Casper: I love to hang out with my friends, bake, read, do art, and watch sports with my family in my spare time.
