Summit Christian’s Tucker Morris – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by: Community Builders

Senior point guard Tucker Morris is a four-year starter for Summit Christian and will likely become the school’s all-time leading scorer this season. The senior is 311 points away from being the all-time scorer and 110 assists away from that record as well. Head coach Tim VanDuser said the team is poised for a run into post season play.

“We lost the majority of games last year by single digits and are looking to finally get over the hump with our returning experience and make a run at a Regional/Area champion,” said VanDuser.

Morris will play a big role in the team’s overall success. Being a student-athlete at Summit Christian is something Morris is proud of, and he loves his team and teammates.

“The best part about being a student-athlete at Summit is how connected we’re able to be. Everyone roots for all the teams, and everyone is always in the stands at the games,” said Morris. “Our team is coming together pretty well. We only lost one senior last year and we’re all a year older and more experienced so I think we can be really good.”

The point guard said his teammates are more than just teammates.

“My favorite thing about my teammates is we’re not just friends through basketball, but we have similar interests and hang out outside of school too,” said Morris.

The goal for this season according to Morris mirrors what coach VanDuser said; make it to post season and make a run.

“Our goal this season is to make it to state. We have a good team this season and believe we have a good shot so that’s what we’re focused on,” said Morris.

In the classroom, Morris said his favorite subject is history and his favorite teacher is Dr. Thibodeau. Morris is a member of STUCO and a class representative. The senior plans to attend college after graduation.

“After I graduate, I want to go to college and continue playing basketball while getting a good education,” said Morris.

In his free time, Morris loves being around family and shooting a few baskets.

“I like playing video games with my friends, watching the Kansas City Chiefs games with my mom, and watching college basketball with my dad. I also like going and shooting in our gym,” said Morris.
