Collinsville Fast-Pitch Softball Preview – Presented by Redbud Physical Therapy

Following a 16-23 season a year ago, the Collinsville Lady Cardinals are looking to bounce back this year. Helping lead the charge will be VYPE Top 100 athlete Brie Smith (UT, Jr.). Head coach Kylee Cole says Smith will be an intricate part of the Cardinals this year. She will play multiple positions and gives Cole plenty of versatility to work with. Cole says Smith is an unselfish lead that is a great role model for the underclassmen. Another key player this year is Kate Reid (P, SS, So.). Reid was a staple for Collinsville last year as a freshman and will look to build on her great debut season. At the plate, Reid hit .457 last year and played every game at either pitcher or shortstop. Cole says Reid is already considered a team leader and has an incredible softball skillset. One freshman to watch this year is Madison Bailey (P, IF, Fr.). Bailey can do a little bit of everything and will likely be an everyday player for the Lady Cardinals. Cole says Bailey can pitch and play every infield position. She will also hit at, or near, the top of the lineup for Collinsville. If the combination of youth and experience can come together for Collinsville, the Lady Cardinals could make some noise in Class 6A.
