COLLINSVILLE CARDINALS

BOYS

Coach: Todd Anderson

22-23 Record: 15-8

Collinsville returns a strong nucleus in 2023-24 with four starters returning under head coach Todd Anderson, who will be in his 12th year with the Cardinals. VYPE Top 100 nominee Zac Brown, Nick Scyrkels (6-3, F, Sr.), Aiden Anderson (5-9, G, Jr.) and Noah Worden (6-0, G, Sr.) are prominent returning starters. Austin Normandin (6-0, G, Jr.) is also back. “We return four starters and nine of our top 10 players from a conference championship team,” Anderson said. Brown, a 6-foot-9 senior center, averaged a double-double as a junior at 17 points and 13 rebounds per game. He’s regarded as one of the top post players in the state. “Zac is a great scorer with his back to the basket, has worked hard all summer developing his perimeter skills, and is capable of stepping out and making 3-point shots,” Anderson said. “Look for Zac to be one of the best post players in the state.”

Scyrkels was another double-figure scorer for the Cardinals last season, averaging 10 points to go along with 2.5 assists per contest. Aiden Anderson, who will direct Collinsville from the point guard position, averaged 9 points and a team-high four assists as a sophomore. “He does a great job of getting the ball where it needs to go, is a great shooter and a team leader,” Todd Anderson said. “He helped lead us to a Metro Lakes Conference championship.” Worden will join Anderson in the backcourt. He averaged 7.5 points and a pair of assists last season. Normandin averaged 4.2 points off the bench. Others expected to contribute include Jace Herald (6-1, G, Sr.), EJ Edwards (6-0, G, Sr.), Walton Cavanagh (6-2, F, Jr.), Ethan Hadley (6-2, G, Jr.) and Kane Abshire (6-4, C, Jr.). “Seniors Jace Herald and EJ Edwards, as well as juniors Austin Normandin, Walton Cavanagh, Ethan Hadley and Kane Abshire should make big impacts this year.” Sophomores include Dylan Scyrkels (6-3, G), Jarett Bristol (6-1, G), Cal Schlomann (6-0, G) and Maverick Davis (6-2, G).
