Catoosa’s Kenzie Queen – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by Excel Therapy

There are people in each of our lives that have an influence on us and help shape us into the people that we are and will become. Kenzie is a senior volleyball player at Catoosa High School and she has a couple of people that have been very impactful on her life.

“My biggest role model is Desiree Bates,” Queen said. “She is the one that introduced me to volleyball and I have looked up to her ever since I began playing volleyball. Another person that has played a role in my life is my teacher, Boss Richards because he has been there for me in class and if I needed him I could go to him for anything else.”

Kenzie becoming the volleyball player that she is did not happen overnight. Instead, it is the result of dedication, perseverance, and hard work.

“I have put in a lot of time and effort into this sport to get where I need to be to be able to play as much as I can,” she said. “I also have a great support system. My family and friends motivate me to do my best on and off the volleyball court.”

Queen is thankful for the teammates that she is surrounded by on the volleyball court.

“I like to warm up with Clara before games,” Kenzie said. “She knows how to control the ball and keep it in play. I think the least appreciated person on our team is Kaydence Welch. She’s our setter and she gives amazing sets and you never hear people say nice set or anything to show her that she is appreciated.”

When they step on the court to play, Kenzie and her team are ready to face whoever is on the other side of the net. But she says that there is one team who she enjoys beating a little more than the others.

“My favorite team to beat is Verdigris,” she said. “Mainly because they are our rivals.”

When she has some downtime, Kenzie enjoys looking at her social media, but she says that there is one page that she enjoys checking out the most.

“My favorite person I follow on social media is my mom’s photography page,” she said. “I get to look at all the photos she posts.”
