Catoosa’s Mia Tucker – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by Catoosa Flowers

Mia Tucker is a cheerleader for Catoosa High School. Not only does she love cheering on her school to victory, but she also enjoys the squad that she cheers with. She appreciates how they work together to get the fans in the stands excited about the game and cheering for the Indians.

“What motivates me the most is the girls on my squad and the enjoyment that comes from getting everyone to cheer with us,” she said. “It takes a lot of practice, time, and dedication to be at our best.”

Tucker is a senior at Catoosa, where she is the captain of the cheer team. Throughout her cheer career, Mia has made a lot of great memories with her team, but she has one memory that stands out as her favorite.

“The highlight of my cheer career was probably beating Hilldale in basketball last year,” Tucker said. “That and being a part of the cheer war against the Hilldale cheerleaders during the game.”

Anytime that she puts on her Catoosa cheer uniform, Tucker says that she is always ready to be a positive light for her school and community.

“I believe it’s a great privilege to represent our community,” she said. “It is important to leave a good impression to improve how others look at our community.”

When it comes to who influences her life, Tucker says that there is a college cheerleader that she respects. And while she is thankful for all of her cheer teammates, she says that there are a couple that stand out.

“One of my biggest cheer role models is Mary Sergi from the University of Alabama,” Mia said. “She excels at anything to cheer and publicly stands in her faith. On my team, I enjoy working with Maddie Belt at practice because she’s hilarious and makes everything fun. The least appreciated person on my team is Hailey Pyles. She works so hard and always steps up when she’s needed to.”

Along with being on the cheer team, Mia is also involved with the Student Council and the senior board, as well as helps lead the pep assemblies.
