Kyliee Addington is a crucial piece for the  Coweta girls basketball team.

Addington, a senior guard, has played basketball for nine years and also runs cross country at Coweta.

“She does whatever we need her to do, and always plays past her abilities,” said Coweta head coach Jade Allison, who has the Lady Tigers off to a 5-5 start in 2022-23.

Addington prides herself on the defensive end of the court.

“My strengths are defense and putting pressure on the ball,” Addington said. “Throughout my high school career I have improved on rebounding.

“Individually, I think that I have improved significantly throughout the season. The connection that the team has as a whole this season adds to the successes on and off the court.”

Addington, who was Coweta’s top performer at the OSSAA Class 5A State Cross Country Meet last October in Edmond with a time of 21:16.89 (31st place), enjoys scrimmaging against her teammates on the hardwood.

She has other interests outside of basketball and cross country.

“What I love most about being a student athlete at my school is the friendships I have made on and off the court,” Addington said. “What I enjoy doing in my free time is reading my Bible, thrifting with friends and running.”

The Lady Tigers recently bounced back to win their final two games of the Verdigris Mother Road Classic after dropping their opener to Tecumseh. They defeated Hilldale (55-24) and followed with a 47-45 overtime victory over 3A No. 11 Purcell on Jan. 7.
