Going for Greens with Emily Vang – Presented by The Market Chowhouse

Golf has been a part of Emily Vang’s life for a while. As an athlete at Catoosa High School, she has seen her hard work pay off in the form of different awards and honors including playing collegiate golf.

“I’ve been playing golf since I was10 years old,” she said. “I am a two-time regional champion and ranked top 10 for the state in my freshman year and top three for my junior year. I have committed to play golf for Bacone College in Muskogee.”

Vang did not become the golfer that she is overnight. She has put in a lot of hard work and has reaped the benefits of all that work as well.

“I have put in hours and hours of practice every day,” she said. “It helps me improve my muscle memory and touch on the ball. While I am practicing and playing, I use my passion for the game of golf as my motivation to do my best. I have had some really memorable moments in my career, but the best would have to be being able to play at Southern Hills and Pinehurst. Those are two rounds that I will never forget.”

When she is on the golf course, Emily has one opponent that is at every round she plays and when she steps onto the course, it is her goal to beat that opponent.

“When it comes to golf, your mind should be set on beating the golf course rather than another player. But I do battle myself more than anyone or anything.”

Golf is still a part of Vang’s life even when she is not competing on the course itself. She works with The First Tee of Tulsa which is a group that teaches kids not only the game of golf, but also life skills, self-confidence, and how to build inner strength.

“I really recommend it for beginners or for those who enjoy the game of golf,” she said. “It is a great program to be a part of.”
