VOLLEYBALL AWARD WINNER: CARLEY BUTLER FROM OWASSO HIGH

TULSA, OK (December 18 th , 2023) – VYPE Magazine and Shelter Insurance are proud to
announce the winner of the Miss Volleyball Oklahoma Award, Carley Butler of Owasso
High School. Butler becomes the fifth player to win the coveted award and the first Miss
Volleyball Oklahoma to represent Owasso High School.
The Shelter Insurance Miss Volleyball Oklahoma Award recognizes the outstanding
athletic achievements of Carley Butler and the high standards of athletic excellence and
exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court, which distinguishes Butler as
Oklahoma’s best high school volleyball player this season.
Butler finished a great season with Owasso High School by helping her team to the state
tournament. Under the leadership and guidance of head coach Meghann Kannett, Butler
helped lead the team to a, 21-16 season, finishing the year ranked No. 7 in Class 6A.
On the season, Butler recorded 346 kills, with a hitting percentage of .341, 78 blocks and
42 aces. Butler finished her career as a four-year starter and was named to the All-State
team as a senior. Butler is committed to play for the University of Oklahoma next fall.

winning the Shelter Insurance Miss Volleyball Oklahoma Award.”
Owasso head coach Meghann Kannett said, “Carley is a dynamic player who makes a
large impact in the game with her offense. She has been a four-year starter for Owasso and
became a threat with her serve this year. She was FVC Offense Player of the Year in 2022,
an All-Stater in 2023 and an OU commit.”
Butler joins former Miss Volleyball award winners; Jaxie Wakley of Victory Christian
(2019), Audrey Buford of Bishop Kelley (2020), Nina LaValley of Carl Albert (2021), and
Katie Kolar of Norman North (2022).
