2023 Owasso Rams Boys Basketball Preview – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

OWASSO RAMS

BOYS

Coach: Brian Montonati

22-23 Record: 18-8

Owasso has high expectations going into the 2023-24 season under head coach Brian Montonati after making the Class 6A state semifinals last year. “We will play an up-style this year to take advantage of our guard play and perimeter shooting,” Montonati said. “Defense and taking care of the ball will be key for us to achieve the goals we’ve set as a team. We’ll be an extremely deep team that could start several different lineups.” The Rams will be led by one of the top players nationally in VYPE Top 100 selection Jalen Montonati, who averaged 19 points and 7.0 rebounds as a freshman last season. The 6-foot-7 forward currently has offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Kansas, Michigan, and Arkansas, among others. Montonati won a gold medal with the U16 USA National Team at the America’s Cup in Merida,

Mexico over the summer. Also returning to lead the backcourt is 6-foot-5 senior guard Cody Lechlider. “Cody is an extremely athletic guard that can play above the rim,” Brian Montonati said. “He has good size for a guard and has the ability to score at all three levels.” Sophomore Boden Williams will run the show from the point guard position. “Boden is a high IQ basketball player that will lead our team from the point guard spot,” Brian Montonati said. “He will also be asked to score more this year and guard the opponent’s best perimeter player.” Anson Harbaugh, a 6-foot-8 senior forward, will give the Rams a strong presence in the frontcourt. “Anson will play a big role on this year’s team and will be asked to be a physical post presence,” Brian Montonati said. “He’ll anchor our defense, and rebounding will be a key asset that Anson will provide in the low post. High-character kid that works extremely hard every day.”
