Catoosa’s Brenda Belt – Mom of the Month -Presented by RibCrib

Athletes put in a lot of work to be at their best in sports. While they learn the basics and how to be a better athlete, there are other skills that they learn while being on a team. And Brenda Belt says that there are also many things that student-athletes learn from their sport besides just stuff about the game itself.

“It gives them support and helps them focus on teamwork and motivation,” she said.

“Being part of a team teaches kids to show up, not only for themselves but for others and to be good stewards of their time. It carries a responsibility to be a good example to those around them especially the younger ones that look up to them.”

Belt has one daughter, Madison, who is a sophomore cheerleader at Catoosa High School.

Madison has also been involved in musical theatre, dance, and singing.

Brenda is a graduate of Broken Arrow. She played middle school basketball and was on the color guard for The Pride. Currently, she is a Research Analyst for a medical device publication.

She enjoys cooking, spending time outside, and working out. She also loves spending time with her husband, four kids, son-in-law, and grandkids.

More than just being there to show her support for her daughter, Brenda also helps out in whatever ways she can.

“I attend games and help with snacks and events,” she said. “I also enjoy having the girls over to get ready for games. I help with cheer activities when needed.”

Being a part of the community and school of Catoosa is something that Belt enjoys. “I love the small-town feel of Catoosa,” she said. “I like the closeness of the smaller community.”

Erin Davis is the cheer coach at Catoosa High School and she says that Brenda is an
outstanding help to her and the team.

“Brenda is one of those mommas who truly cares about the girls and parents on our team,”
Davis said. “She’s always willing to help out any way she can. She will pick girls up and take them to church, bring snacks for them, and offers to help any family that might have a need.

She’s also one who reaches out to me to make sure I’m doing okay. She truly cares about people and loves them. The proof is in her actions.”
