Owasso’s Addi Drummond wants to ‘become a stronger leader’ for Rams softball this year – Presented by Excel Physical Therapy

Family means more to Addi Drummond than most.

Drummond, an Owasso High School junior, stars for the Rams fast and slow pitch teams. She also plays basketball and is a member for the National Honor Society.
Her older sister, Madi, was also an exceptional softball player at Owasso. She made All-State as a senior before heading to Seminole State.

“I started playing when I was 4, and I started because my older sister was playing, and I wanted to be just like her,” Addi said. “She has been a major influence in my life. I’ve watched her work hard and fight for a spot on the field her whole life.”

This year, the youngest Drummond sister, Katie, will join Addi on the varsity team – the middle Drummond sister is “really excited” for the opportunity to play together.

“I did go through some difficult times last year,” Addi said, “and the support and love that I felt from my teammates and coaches was more than I could have ever expected.”

Drummond’s grandparents, Joe and Priscilla Drummond, died in a two-car collision in September of 2022 while Addi and her Owasso teammates were playing a tournament in St. Louis, Missouri.

“I knew that no matter what, they were going to be there for me,” Drummond said.

In the time that has passed, her game has improved to new heights.

“I think they would be very proud of the success I’ve had this last year,” Drummond said. My teammates and I have all improved significantly and we are ready to go win a state championship.”

This year, Drummond wants to “become a stronger leader” while helping her teammates fit into their roles. She reiterated her goals of bringing Owasso its first title since 1995.

“I honestly think we have a really good chance of winning state this year,” Drummond said. “We need to fill a few key positions and just come together as a team. We definitely have the talent to do it.”
