Owasso’s Mak Gregg – Coach Spotlight – Presented by J-P Hogan Insurance

Mak Gregg
Owasso Wrestling
When the OSSAA organized girl’s wrestling a few years ago, many in the state wondered if it would take off. The answer was overwhelmingly yes. Owasso head coach Justin Morsey has a good one on his hands in Mak Gregg. Gregg was a state qualifier last year and that has fueled her to become Owasso’s first girl’s state champion.

“I love the support I get from whole school and the community. I’m a junior this year and I love how the whole team looks up to me and helps push me to be the first girls state champ,” said Gregg.

The goal is a state title. As a team, Owasso finished 6 th overall and Gregg has a teammate in Lizzy Petersen who also qualified for state last season.

On the mat, Gregg has a career record of 52-15 and she takes that same focus into the classroom.

“I’m in STUCO and my favorite subject is math and two of my favorite teachers are Ms. Mayfield and Mrs. Kannett,” said Gregg.

The junior said she enjoys the holiday season, but her favorite is the 4th of July.

“My favorite holiday is the 4th of July because me and my dad love to shoot off fireworks together,” said Gregg.

Once her time at Owasso comes to an end, Gregg said she would like to wrestle in college, but if that does not work out, she may join the U.S. Army.

In her free time, Gregg enjoys spending time with friends and attending club practice.
