Q&A with Catoosa’s Ta’Nei West – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Eyecare of Catoosa Hills

VYPE recently spoke with Catoosa’s Ta’Nei West to learn more about who she is.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
TW: This year my goals are to be a better leader than I was last season and to make it to the playoffs.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
TW: The most fun I’ve had this year is going to the OCS Tournament, bonding with my teammates while being there, and getting 3rd place.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
TW: My favorite teacher is my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Capsey. She has made a huge impact on my life from 5th grade year to now, Junior year, teaching me to be the best leader and best person I can be at everything I do.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
TW: So far, my favorite athletic memory is Sophomore year playing softball all day everyday and making so many fun memories with the seniors.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
TW: Mallory Warma has made the biggest impression on me. She has taught me to not be scared to try new things and to always have a good attitude no matter what situation you are put in, and to ALWAYS no matter what, encourage each and every one of your teammates.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
TW; My favorite part about being on this soccer team is the bond we all have together. If one of us is in we’re all in. We encourage each other to get better each and every day and we have fun while doing it.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
TW: If I chose to go somewhere this summer I would go to Utah and I would take my family and my Grandparents.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
TW: I would help my brother buy the hunting bow he wants so I can go hunting with him.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
TW: I participate in Red Socks. This is an organization through my church where we go out and give clothing items, toiletry items, and food to the homeless.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
TW: I am involved in the NHS and STUCO. I like being involved in these groups because you get to help your school and be involved with other students.

VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs? I am involved in the NHS and STUCO.
