Hi, what are you looking for?

Collinsville

Q&A With Collinsville’s Caden Green – Presented by J&K Equipment

Caden Green is hoping to return to his 2022 form this year on the track.

Green won a state championship as a sophomore for Collinsville last year in the 110 meter hurdles, posting a time of 15.29.

“Caden is one the top hurdlers in the state,” Collinsville coach Sean Tesar said. “Caden is talented, very coachable, and an absolute technician. Caden sets an example of how to work with purpose and intent, while doing it with class.”

Now, Green wants to go after the school record in the 110 meter hurdles.

“I’m striving to beat the school record for the 110m hurdles, and I plan on winning state this year for the 110s,” Green said.

VYPE: How long have you participated in track?

Caden: I’ve been running track since 7th grade.

VYPE: How do you balance your time between sports and academics or other activities?

Caden: I just go about it like any other student athlete. I put school first then sports.

VYPE: What is your favorite drill to do in training and why?

Caden: My personal favorite is short overs because it helps with getting better form for hurdles.

VYPE: What are your strengths and what have you improved on the most over the course of your high school career?

Caden: My strengths when running the 110s are my form going over the hurdles and consistency while running them. And for improvements, I have improved my speed between the hurdles and my block start is more explosive.

VYPE: What are your thoughts on this season from both an individual and team standpoint?

Caden: So far I’m happy with how the season is looking for myself. From a team standpoint, we will have a great season this year.

VYPE: What qualities do you think make someone a good teammate or leader?

Caden: A good leader is someone who respects everyone, has patience and can lead by example.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

Caden: I plan on going to the naval academy to run track and after I graduate I will go into officer school and become a marine officer.

VYPE: What’s your most memorable sports moment during your high school career?

Caden: I won state last year for the 110m hurdles. I also got fourth at the OU High School Championship this year.
